Moved to New York during

I first moved to New York during Autumn of 2011. Yes, this note is merely about Autumn, and New York.  All jokes aside, the move in itself meant for me the beginning of something I considered grand - something new, fresh, and cool - like the sound of “New York”. I was barely 21 at the time. Picture that: a young kid, like the fresh prince of Bel-Air, first time going out to the big city. I long decided to go to college upstate, in Albany. A good start. Plus, the university I enrolled in offered a great program in Actuarial Mathematics. The end goal was to eventually embark on a career on Wall Street. But New York, for what it is, led me to a whole different destiny: the Fine Arts. I remember first falling in love with 90’s Hip Hop music. I Used To Love Her, from Common - Moment of Truth from Gang Starr - UMI Says from Yasiin Bey - fka Mos Def - Microphonist Wanderlust - Pete Rock - You Got Me - The Roots ft. Erykah Badu - were my first darlings. I still get goosebumps listening to these joints. And then Jazz - the main source - with the likes of John Coltrane, Miles Davis, Nina Simone, Ella Fitzgerald, Lester Young, Duke Ellington. These cats would play every single day in my room, or in my earbuds. I can clearly recall playing Coltrane’s A Love Supreme and Miles Davis’ Kind of Blue albums religiously. If you can, please listen to Flamenco Sketches by Miles Davis right now.
